# Viewing Positions

> How to view and manage individual market positions

## Viewing Your Positions

Learn how to view and analyse your positions in individual markets.

## Accessing Position Details

### From the Portfolio Page

1. Go to **"Portfolio"** in the sidebar
2. Click on any market row to expand it and see position details
3. Click the external link icon to go to the full market detail page

### From the Market Page

1. Navigate to any market
2. Scroll to **"Your Holdings"** section
3. See your position for that specific market

## Position Information

### What You'll See

* **Shares Owned**: Number of YES and/or NO shares
* **Average Entry Price**: The average price you paid across all purchases
* **Current Price**: What shares are worth right now
* **Total Value**: Current price × number of shares
* **Unrealised P/L**: Gain or loss if you sold now
* **Percentage Change**: Performance as a percentage of your cost

## Understanding Position Metrics

### Average Entry Price

The average price you paid for your shares, calculated across all your buys. Helps you understand your cost basis.

### Current Price

The current market price for one share. Updates in real-time.

### Total Value

Current price × shares owned. What your position is currently worth.

### Unrealised P/L

Total value minus what you originally paid. This is "unrealised" because it only becomes real when you sell.

* Positive = unrealised profit
* Negative = unrealised loss

## Position Actions

### Sell Shares

1. Click **"Sell"** next to your holdings
2. Enter the quantity to sell
3. Set a price or use the current market price
4. Confirm the sell order

### Add to a Position

1. Place a new buy order on the same market and side
2. Your average entry price updates to reflect the new purchase

### Close a Position

1. Sell all your shares in that market
2. Your unrealised P/L becomes realised
3. Funds return to your available balance

## Analysing Positions

### Winning Positions (Current > Entry)

Consider taking profits or holding if you expect further movement. Set a mental exit target and stick to it.

### Losing Positions (Current \< Entry)

Review your original thesis. If it's no longer valid, cutting the loss frees up capital for better opportunities.

### Break-Even Positions (Current ≈ Entry)

You're neither up nor down. Decide whether to hold and wait for your thesis to play out, or exit and redeploy capital.
